FIRST LEGO League coaching & STEAM education
MO’sFIRST is the educational branch within BinYoDa, focused on the development, guidance, and transfer of high-quality robotics and STEAM education programs based on the FIRST philosophy.
With over eight years of in-depth experience in FIRST and STEAM education, MO’sFIRST combines technical coaching, educational design, and presentation skills into a coherent and sustainable approach.
FIRST is not treated as a competition alone, but as a learning framework — one that develops technical ability, collaboration, reflection, and communication.
Experience & background
Over the past eight years, I have worked intensively within the FIRST ecosystem, supporting students, teams, and schools in building robotics programs that go beyond short-term success.
This includes:
- long-term involvement in FIRST LEGO League
- coaching teams across multiple seasons and competition levels
- designing sustainable robotics programs within school contexts
- guiding teams toward strong technical and presentation outcomes
In 2023, the team I coached qualified for the FIRST LEGO League International Finals in Houston, Texas, competing on the world stage.
This experience reinforced the importance of preparation, reflection, and professional presentation in high-level robotics education.
A holistic coaching approach
MO’sFIRST integrates three interconnected domains that together form a complete learning experience.
Robotics & engineering
Students develop skills in:
- robot design and programming
- iterative problem-solving
- research and innovation projects
- teamwork under real constraints
Technical excellence is pursued through guided learning, not instruction-by-command.
Presentation & communication
A distinctive strength of MO’sFIRST is its strong emphasis on presentation and storytelling.
Drawing on my background as a Music director and Drama teacher, teams are coached in:
- clear presentation structure
- confident stage presence
- collaboration during live presentations
- translating complex ideas into accessible stories
These skills are essential within FIRST competitions — and transferable far beyond them.
Ownership & personal growth
MO’sFIRST places strong emphasis on:
- student ownership of the learning process
- reflection and feedback
- collaboration over competition
This approach aligns closely with the FIRST Core Values and supports personal development alongside technical growth.
Programs within MO’sFIRST
MO’sFIRST brings experience and methodology together in clearly defined programs.
REborn
Robotica Educatie Bornego
REborn was a comprehensive robotics education program developed within a secondary school context.
It integrated multiple robotics competitions — FIRST LEGO League, FIRST Tech Challenge, and World Robot Olympiad — into a single, coherent learning pathway.
After successful development and the integration of new coaches, REborn was fully transferred and continues independently under local leadership.
As in May 2026 I am no longer employed at the Bornego College, and I am no longer involved in the day-to-day execution of REborn.
REborn now functions for me as a completed case study and foundational reference within MO’sFIRST.
Ghindeni, Romania
International FIRST LEGO League development
Ghindeni represents the international application of the MO’sFIRST approach.
Within an Erasmus+ framework, this ongoing collaboration focuses on:
- establishing and expanding FIRST LEGO League teams
- coaching students and local educators
- building sustainable structures adapted to local context
- fostering international collaboration and exchange
The project includes student exchanges and an annual on-site visit around June, ensuring continuity and long-term development.

Independent and forward-looking
MO’sFIRST operates independently and is not tied to a single institution.
This independence allows for:
- flexible collaboration with schools and partners
- international program development
- cross-border knowledge transfer
MO’sFIRST builds on proven experience while remaining adaptable to new educational contexts.
What MO’sFIRST stands for
MO’sFIRST represents:
- depth of experience within FIRST and STEAM education
- balance between technology and communication
- sustainable program design
- international perspective
- transferability and continuity
It is not about running teams or seasons.
It is about building learning structures that last.
